USS (Unit Substation System) er derimod et selvst\u00e6ndigt system, der er designet til mindre understationer og fokuserer p\u00e5 fjernstyring og overv\u00e5gning af individuelle enheder. USS st\u00e5r p\u00e5 den anden side for utility service scheme, der beskriver de elektriske forbindelser og gr\u00e6nseflader mellem udstyr.
